A question from a customer: Recessed lighting

Q: If you go with a smaller recessed light do you need more of them installed?  If so, recommendations for going from 6” to 4”?

Answer: Every installation can be different but generally speaking the larger the recessed fixture housing you install allows for larger wattage trims to be installed which in return means you can space them farther apart.  In reality this is probably more important on higher ceilings.  On standard ceiling heights, like being used in a kitchen for supplemental lighting, I don’t think you could go wrong either way.  Six and Five inch trims are more common and usually offer a wider range of trims to choose from including LED trims.  Four inch trims may be a little more difficult to find.  Hope this helps and thank you for contacting Mister Sparky.
